300 Christians Unite Outside NYC Planned Parenthood to Celebrate Love and Life
On Saturday October 5th, nearly 300 believers from the Local Church united in prayer outside one of the largest abortion centers in the United States. The Margaret Sanger Health Center operated by Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion center in New York City. With more than 64,000 babies aborted every year, New York City is the abortion capital of America. But that is changing.
Where The Church has been silent in the past, it is coming to life. On that day, four New York City congregations united across denominational lines for one purpose, to stand for Love and Life in the middle of one of America's darkest cities.
While there was opposition, our presence and our prayers made a significant impact. We witnessed one woman who had come for an abortion turn away and leave the clinic. During the entirety of our prayer walk, not a single woman entered the clinic for an abortion. This speaks volumes to the importance of The Church's presence.
Immediately following the prayer walk, believers gathered in the First Ukrainian Assembly of God Church for worship, testimony and a challenge to connect. Our greatest work is done when members of the Local Church say "yes" to standing in the gap for abortion minded families. They do this in a number of ways ranging from walking beside a family that's chosen life as a mentor, to standing on the street outside of abortion centers as a sidewalk counselor. Others commit to playing an active role in carrying out the prayer walks by attending twice a month as a Prayer Walk Champion or helping to end the orphan crisis by saying yes to foster care or adoption.
Everyone can do something and on Saturday, we celebrated as nearly 50 people stepped forward to connect beyond the prayer walk and help build a culture of Love and Life in New York City that will bring an end to abortion.
Whether you're in one of our partner cities or not, YOU can have a significant impact in seeing the end of abortion in our lifetime. Visit LoveLife.org/connnect to find out how.
