Love Life 2019 Year in Review

Updated: Dec 27, 2019

As we prepare to wrap up our fourth year of ministry, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that God has done, not just in the last year, but over the last four years. It's surreal to think back to that date in 2016 when a small group of believers gathered at the entrance to "teardrop point" in Charlotte for our very first prayer walk.

Since that time we've seen tens of thousands of believers attend our weekly prayer walks, now taking place in four different cities. 2018 brought the expansion to Greensboro and Raleigh where The Church continues to run to the scene and we are seeing answers to prayer as God continues to save families in both of those communities.

2019 began with news of the devastating legislature in New York that would allow for abortions right up to the moment of birth. This new law and the subsequent celebration, not only in New York City but across the nation, was a call to extend the reach of Love Life outside of North Carolina. Launching in a new city poses many challenges but launching in New York City, considered to be the abortion capital of America, proved to be both a practical and spiritual battle.

Preparations for a launch in New York City began the week after the new abortion law was passed. Our team members began meeting with members of the Local Church and area ministries to begin laying the groundwork.

Meanwhile in Charlotte, the ongoing spiritual battle at Charlotte's busiest abortion center reached new heights. The Charlotte City Council began colluding with the abortion center and other area pro-abortion groups to implement a sound buffer around the abortion center. The noise buffer would restrict the use of amplified sound on the sidewalks and potentially limit our ability to conduct prayer walks from our property adjacent to the abortion center.

We sounded the alarm and The Church responded. You flooded the City Council members with phone calls, letters and emails and on several occasions, showed up in person to speak out against the attacks on those who would stand up for Love and Life.

Although the council eventually voted to implement the noise buffer, the proposed distance was decreased, allowing us to continue conducting our prayer walks in Charlotte without restricting our ability to use amplified sound. Your support and your action during the many weeks of meetings leading up to the vote is so much appreciated and made such a difference in the overall outcome.

In September we conducted our fourth annual Youth For Life Prayer Walk which saw more than 1,000 middle school, high school and college students come together in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh to show the culture that today's young people believe every life has value. In each city, our prayer walks were completely carried out by youth, showing that the current generation of young people are ready and willing to keep fighting for the pre-born.

In October, following months of planning, prayer and mobilizing the Local Church, we launched Love Life New York City. This was a powerful launch weekend where congregations from four different churches came together to pray outside of the busiest Planned Parenthood in New York City. More than anything, what that day showed was that The Church in New York City is hungry for change. We saw dozens of people come forward at the end of the walk and take the step to connect beyond the prayer walk. We now have an active presence on the sidewalks outside of the clinic where moms are choosing life because someone is there to support them.

On November 16th, we held our annual Week 40 Celebrate Life Prayer Walk simultaneously across four cities in two different states. Thousands of believers gathered in Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh and New York City to declare an end to abortion and the orphan crisis. As is always the case, Week 40 is meant to celebrate all that God has done in each of our local communities through the Local Church.

As we close out 2019 and look ahead to 2020, we want to pause and celebrate all that God has done through His Church in the past year.

In 2019 we saw:

  • 544 + Families Saved From Abortion

  • 294 Churches Mobilized

  • 24,290 People attend Prayer Walks in four different cities

2020 will mark our fifth year of ministry and as always, our mission will remain the same: to unite and mobilize The Church to create a culture of Love and Life that result in an end to abortion and the Orphan Crisis. Prayer walks will begin in all four cities on February 22, 2020 but in the meantime, we invite you to prayerfully consider how God would use you to be part of the solution that ends abortion and the Orphan Crisis?

We have a tremendous need in each of our cities for members of the Local Church to rise up and take their place at the wall. This might mean coming along side a family that's chosen life as a Mentor. It might mean standing on the sidewalk outside of an abortion center one day a week as a sidewalk counselor. It might mean partnering with us financially as a Culture Pioneer to see this life saving ministry spread to other cities in other states or it might mean opening up your home to a foster child or pursuing adoption and seeing a child placed in a "forever family" through our Orphan Care ministry.

Whichever area you feel God calling you to, we firmly believe that the end of abortion and the Orphan Crisis will come through the united body of Christ and we will not stop until families facing unplanned pregnancies are running away from abortion centers and to the Local Church.

God bless! We look forward to serving alongside you in 2020!
